Xerox News, Hot Off the Press

08/28/08 | by admin [mail]

The latest production printers unveiled by Xerox at Drupa in Germany are now available for order-taking in Canada. The massive print show held in Dusseldorf is where the world’s largest and most well-known printing companies show off their stuff, and the products previewed by Xerox are likely among the most anticipated from the event.

There are three printers available in total, though if you’re interested in SOHO or anything other than big industrial printers, these presses are certainly not in your budget. The new production presses are the Xerox 700 Digital Production Press ($67,494), the DocuColour 4000AP ($120,000) and, last but not least, the iGen4 Digital Production Press ($574,500). All of these are available for order taking now, and installation September 15.

“At Xerox, customer success is our success,” said Tom Oldfield, vice president of graphic communications at Xerox Canada. “The enthusiasm surrounding our digital printing products continues to build as we add applications that drive high page volume growth and improve our customers’ value proposition to their customers.”

The iGen4 is undoubtedly the most hotly anticipated of the new lineup. According to InfoTrends estimates, 50 per cent of total production pages worldwide are produced on iGen3 printers or DocuColor production presses.

On top of that, more than 2,000 of the iGen3 presses have been sold worldwide, with 275 customers having two or more of the production presses and more than 125 customers printing over a million pages a month on their iGen3 models.

“I believe 2007 was the tipping point of the digital print market in Canada, and 2008 has been a strong follow up to last year’s phenomenal growth,” Oldfield said.
